7" Heaven: The Korgis - Everybody's Got To Learn Sometime

Time for a bit of a one hit wonder tonight! I was going to talk about The Twilight Sad, but fool I am I left my copy of the album at work. But nevermind that, cos to be honest this one hit wonder really is a wonder. The Korgis were an English new wave band who formed in 1979, and who, although they only lasted for 2 years when they formed, have been active on and off again at random times since, and in fact do exist at this moment (but who knows how long that'll last. A mixture of Beatles and Hollies-esque harmony with new wave hooks and style, its perhaps unfair to call them a one hit wonder, because they did have another successful single with the quite luverly If I Had You, also from their debut album. However as with the recent reunion of The Only Ones, one gets the feeling that people are only reaaally interested in that one big hit. Everybody's Got... was a big hit in the UK and US, such a big hit that the band re-recorded it in 1986 and had another hit. When covered by Beck it also played an important part of the soundtrack to Michel Gondry's uber-ace Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind. Here's both sides of the 7", which will allow to marvel at how great the Aside is and laugh at how bad the bside is in comparison. Enjoy!

This weekend = another All Tomorrow's Parties! OH MY GOD! Feel free to go here and feel jealous. So yes, no posts for a few days, so have a good weekend folks :D

Classic pop. One of my faves.

Had no idea they re-recorded it in 1986. Don't happen to have a copy of that version do you?

A great record and of course The Dream Academy also did a cover of this track in 1987 on the album "Remembrance Days"
