MP3: Lift - Bleeding You Dry
Lift were an Aberdeen based indie rock band who appeared in 1999 on the Aberdeen based Lithium records with a single named Bleeding You Dry. They then reappeared in 2004 on the Fat Hippy label with a four track EP named Too Much To Say. Other than that, I really don't know much about them. All I could find was this little bit of info on the now defunct Lithium records: 'Lithium Records are an independent record label based in Aberdeen, Scotland. The label boasts a number of quality bands including 'The Needles' 'The Gents' and 'The Scan Carriers'. NME, 31/7/99 "Dedicated to the art of noise, that's Lithium Records. A teenage mini- Motown with chutzpah to spare, this Aberdeen label has devoted its short life to all that is young, frenetic and loud.' So aint that nice.
I remember hearing the name back in 1999 but other than hearing them a few times on the Evening Session wasn't really familiar with anything. Anyway Lyle from Drowned In Sound included some of their stuff on a CD he sent me a while back, and so I thought i'd stick them up here for your perusal. They're pretty good methinks, well worth a download. Available to download are all three tracks from the Bleeding You Dry single as well as the title track from the second EP. I couldn't find any websites for the band, but you can download their second EP on mp3 here. With money (bizarre).

They split last year.
Website was liftarehere.co.uk or something like that.
I bought that single the same week than the safety ep by Coldplay.
I'd bet Lift were gonna be huge...
Sorry to hear they split...
I was a big fan...(their first fan!) Does anyone know how I can get in contact with any of them? Used to know the bass player Dave. Do they still have a website?
i could've given you more info on Lift, considering i co-ran the label ;-)
I was that bassplayer...and Addie Nunn was right, she DID run the half the label!
As far as I know, there's a reunion planned for 2013.
Lift became "TalkShow" for a while, but they disbanded in 2009.
Cliff and Don are in a new band with some gigs planned for the latter half of 2012.
