MP3: Sounds Showcase 2 - The Adult Net & The Go-Betweens
Okay here are the two songs from the Bside of the Sounds Showcase 1 7". If you're enjoying these free 7"'s i'm upping, then i've got two or three more that will be up in the next few weeks and should please you. If you're not, tough.
First up is a pretty cool track from The Adult Net. T.A.N. were of course the side project of one time Fall member and (insanely) Mark E. Smith's wife, the oddly named Brix Smith. Surprising, it isn't half bad. The only really odd thing is that bit at the start with the riff, where they've obvioulsy just turned down the track rather than just stopping the guitar. Or at least thats what it sounds like to me.
Finally we have a track from the totally underrated Go-Betweens. For the uninformed they were, and still are, one of the most influential and long lasting indie rock bands in Australia. They've released nine studio albums, the latest being 2005's Oceans Apart, which is pretty darn stunning, and Robert Christgau once called band members Robert Forster and Grant McLennan "the greatest songwriting partnership working today". This track was taken from the 1987 album 'Tallulah', and is rather ace in a very C86 way. Enjoy.
