MP3: Junk / Disco Queen & Pop Star & Everywhere
Okay here's a band that were quite clearly forgotten because they didn't make much of an impression in the first place. The promo copy that I own of their second single, Disco Queen, states:
'Junk release their second single for Ye Gods Records on October 19th [2000]. After a triumphant performance at the "In The City" industry showcase, the Colchester four-piece continue to gather A&R interest.'
Other than that, the only other info I could dredge up was that their first single was called My Baby Got Green Hair, and although I seem to recognise the name, i've no idea what it sounded like or even if I heard it. Steve Lamacq played Disco Queen a lot for a few weeks, and I managed to pick up a promo of it at a record fair for 25p. After that, they disappeared off the face of the earth. Anyway I thought the single was pretty cool in an early Ash kind of way, so here are all three songs from the single for your listening pleasure (or displeasure).

Hey there!
Just to let you know, Junk are still very much going. They played a 'homecoming' gig in Colchester in September supporting rthe Mooney Suzuki at the Arts Centre. Apparently they are doing relatively well stateside.
Just a little bit of random useless knowledge for you :)

wow thats weird. haven't heard a word about them since this single, although its not a very individual bandname so maybe i just ignored references to them when i heard it.

Hey Jamie,
Not sure if you'll ever see this, but I just checked out this blog post, as I've been scouring the Net to find more songs by this band (love "Life is Good", "Waiting", and all the ones on their Soundcloud - still waiting for an official album, if they ever do one).
Noticed the rapidshare links no longer work. Any chance you could re-upload for us latecomers (probably just me lol)? Or send to me privately (I can give you my e-mail)? I'd buy the CD single if I could (and if priced reasonably), but all I can find online is the Vinyl single.
They put "Everywhere" on Soundcloud, so I just need "Disco Queen" and "Pop Star". Also "My Baby's Got Green Hair" if you have it (just found a sub-par audio quality version on Youtube, though I'm grateful to have it to at least tide me over).
Really hoping you see this, as it seems all the comments have turned to spam now (and you haven't posted a new blog in a couple years). Thanks...and thanks for doing the blog :-)
Justin
I can send you the Disco Queen MP3s if you let me have an email

Hey Rosey Repeat...thanks for the reply (didn't think anyone would see this besides spammers lol - but I'm glad I gave it a shot anyway!) - just sent you an e-mail with my info :-)
