MP3: Deus - Instant Street + Bsides

Amongst the singles I bought when I was first getting heavily obsessed with music, this is one of my favourites. Deus are a Belgian Indie rock band who formed in 1989 and are made up of Tom Barman (vocals/guitar), Klaas Janzoons (keyboards/violin), Stephane Misseghers (drums), Alan Gevaert (bass) and Mauro Pawlowski (guitar). They've released four albums to date, and any fan will tell that they're one of the most underrated bands around. Their first three records, 1994's Worst Case Scenario, 1996's In A Bar Under The Sea and 1999's excellent The Ideal Crash all came out on Island, and last year saw the release of their debut for V2, the rather great Pocket Revolution. Instant Street was the first single from Ideal Crash, and got a hell of a lot of airplay on the Evening Session, but from what I can remember didn't get any on the daytime radio one shows. Big surprise. It's a superb song, and the two bsides are also definitely worth a listen. If you like them, chances are you should check out an album or too. In particular the first bside Sam Peckinpah's Daughter has one of the best and funniest examples of breaking the fourth wall i've heard on a record. Enjoy.

Deus - Sam Peckinpah's Daughter - MP3 2.63mb
Deus - You Can't Deny What You Liked As A Child - MP3 3.35mb
