Peel Session: Electrelane (2004)

It's been a while since I put any Peel sessions up, but as one of the bands I had lined up are preparing to play some live dates this summer, I thought I would put one of their recordings up. Electrelane are an all-female four piece from Brighton influenced by krautrock, electro and good old fashioned Velvets and Sonic Yoof style indie. So far they've released four stunning albums, the most successful of which was probably 2004's Steve Albini produced The Power Out. However they're all worth a shot, and this year's recent No Shouts, No Calls is particularly excellent. As I said above they've got a lot of tour dates lined up throughout Europe, including slots at the Field Day and Bestival festivals in the UK and a headline show at London's horrendous Koko in November. Good luck to 'em!

This was the band's second of only two Peel sessions, and was recorded on the 29th January 2004, produced by Andrew Rogers. Hope you like it. More information available at wikipedia and the band's official site.

Electrelane - 01 Oh Sombra! (Peel session)
Electrelane - 02 More Than This (Peel session)
Electrelane - 03 Untitled (Peel session)
Electrelane - 04 This Deed (Peel session)

Nice one man. The more Electrelane the better for me at the moment. Koko you say? Shame, as their Scala gig was one of the best of the year for me so far...

Hooray! i have been wanting this full session ever since it aired. i got More Than This on tape and it's since become my favourite version of the song, to the point where now every time i hear Bryan Ferry start singing it i assume he's going too fast. Thank you so much!

Electrelane should NOT cover any more Bryan Ferry songs. End of story.

Thanks for that, really interesting. To my mind that's 2 really good songs, one stinker and a hilarious cover. Good value.

The session can't have been recorded in 2006 can it?
