Summer Gold Soundz and Peel
Wow it's such a nice day today. I've had a nice lunch, washed a bench and read a book in the garden listening to the new Of Montreal, interspersed with snippits of Polvo and Magoo and various AmRep mentalism. I'm feeling so damn summery and i'm SO looking forward to some stuff coming up in the next few months, such as my forthcoming holiday to Nashville, Truck Festival, Field Day in Victoria Park (with Battles, Liars, Mystery Jets, Four Tet and Justice!) Sonic Youth performing Daydream Nation in London, plus gigs from Final Fantasy, The Hold Steady and various others, that I just HAD to post some extra summery music for you today. So yeh the one band i've been listening to lots today that I didn't mention are the uber-holy Pavement. I hadn't listened to Crooked Rain for quite a while, and today it just sounded so darn perfect. So here we have a song from that record, plus a Peel session that was recorded around the time of the album's release and that featured on the relatively recent double cd re-release of this album. Hope you like em, and hope the weather is as good where you are as it is here.
Pavement - Gold Soundz
Pavement - 01 Brink Of The Clouds (Peel Session)
Pavement - 02 Tartar Martyr (Peel Session)
Pavement - 03 Pueblo Domain (Peel Session)
Pavement - 04 The Sutcliffe Catering Song (Peel Session)

Something strange and wonderful and upsetting happened to me at about 4 o'clock on Sunday morning, and it seemed nothing short of perfect that "Gold Soundz" was playing on the stereo at the time.
