Isabel At Sunset - Meet The Gang!

Meet The Gang! is the debut album from Italian indie rockers Isabel At Sunset, a rather intriguing five piece who seem to be doing a continental take on the same sort of literate, meta-referential and yet hyperactive Indie pop/rock mix that Britain's Los Campesinos do so well. Some of the influences are very obvious, Pavement for example, but other influences I could guess at would be Big Star, Buffalo Tom, Sparklehorse and Grandaddy; from which you can basically tell that Meet The Gang is basically a great big shiny summery rock album with hooks a plenty and songwriting good enough to set them out from the pack. At times certain influences may be too overpowering and get in the way, but overall for a debut it's rather lovely, and also doesn't fall into the lyrical traps that many other European bands do when singing in English. It's out on Tea Kettle Records (it's actually the first release on that label) now and comes highly recommended. From me.

Hey! Nice find. Just to let you know, the tracks' tags have the band name misspelled "Isobel" instead of "Isabel".

Keep up the awesome blog,

David.
