MP3: Charlotte Gainsbourg - 5:55

The new Charlotte Gainsbourg album, which I heard for the first time today, is completely magical. After just two listens it's pushed itself way up into my top 10 of the year. The album is called 5:55, and it's only her second album, her first in 20 years. Produced by Nigel Godrich, with music by Air and lyrics by the incomparable Jarvis Cocker and Neil Hannon, it's totally special and deserves your listening ears. Here are a few songs.

While i'm typing, Tim from The Face Of Today has put up two new demos by his band, Cut, which you can download here.

Charlotte Gainsbourg - The Operation
Charlotte Gainsbourg - The Songs That We Sing

I gave this album a good listen in the fnac when I was in France and it made me wish that Charlotte's dad hadn't drunk and smoked himself into an early grave. It hasn't convinced me that Charlotte shouldn't just stick to modelling and acting though ... well written songs and nice slick production ... not sure it's for me, but thanks for posting it so I could give it further consideration!

Yeah I think she's amazing, regardless of what this article written by Momus (whom I frequently agree with) says

I say, if it sounds good, it is good.
