Peel Session: Twist (1999)

Twist were an all girl four-piece that released three singles on the Fierce Panda label in 1999 before quickly disappearing off the face of the earth. They'd been tipped for big things and got some good airplay on all the right shows, but unfortunately long term success was not forthcoming. The only other thing I can really tell you is that the three singles were called Star, Shari Says and Lay Low. All three are still available from the lovely people at Fierce Panda. Hope you like the songs!

Twist - 01 Dent (Peel session)
Twist - 02 Slow Down (Peel session)
Twist - 03 Glistening (Peel session)
Twist - 04 Lay Low (Peel session)

And there was an album called Magenta that was pretty good too. A decent live act n'all. Pity they vanished. Good call on the Peel tracks!

Twist were great. I remember hearing them for the first time about a month after thier last known gig, which annoyed me greatly...

There's also a great 3-track single that was released on Org in 2001.

Emma, vocalist and guitarist of Twist, has a new band called Opelia Torah who play regular gigs in London. Their sound is quite a bit heavier, but better!

Hi, I was the bass player in Twist...we arrived to record that session after a gig in Southampton. we were still in our jim jams and slugging Strongbow. I have been after this for years..he only copy I had was one I made on a tape as it was being broadcast but the tape is no longer in my possession..the links don't play! How can I get hold of these?
