Peel Session: Lift To Experience (2001)

Poor old Lift To Experience fans. One solitary stinkingly superb album, and then split. Not fair is it? After forming all the way back in 1996 in Denton, Texas, vocalist/guitarist Josh T. Pearson, bassist Josh Browning and drummer Andy Young, took five whole years to finally get around to releasing their only album, the stunning The Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads. And then they split. Forever. Frontman Pearson is now of course embarking on a solo career (songs can be heard at his myspak), which from what i've heard looks to be just as promising as his initial splash of genius.

Here is the band's one and only session for the Peel show, recording in April 2001. Enjoy.

Lift To Experience - 01 Just As Was Told (Peel session)
Lift To Experience - 02 Falling From Cloud 9 (Peel session)
Lift To Experience - 03 The Ground So Soft (Peel session)
Lift To Experience - 04 With The World Behind (Peel session)

Brilliant post! I'd lost hope of any new LTE. Sadly it seems, unless i'm a doofus, the first track does not work.

The Sarcastic Idiocy Forum approves of this message, even without information about the upcoming K-Fed tour.

I never heard of LTE today.

I like this a lot though.

Sigh - how much would you give for the release of a HUGE box set entitled "the complete Peel Sessions" which was just EVERY Peel Session ever made?

What can I say? I'd forgotten all about LtE but this post has reminded me. The album is available on iTunes too.

I've been listening to their double disc about once a month (from start to finish) I was super fortunate to see them in raleigh north carolina at kings bar. About 20 or so people their tops and they were simply awe inspiring....for me it was moving in a way that only happens at special momments in time!!!

What a wonderful find this is. LTE are one of the great lost bands. I chatted to Josh about a year ago, and he mentioned that he had 'enough music for half a Lift album'. Not sure if it'll ever appear, but at least we have the glory of the Texas-Jerusalem Crossroads.

This is fantastic, thanks for putting this up. I saw Josh Pearson live, solo a few months back and he was phenominal - keep your eyes peeled for a studio album this year from him, I'm 110% sure it'll be stunning if his live performances are anything to go by.

None of the tracks are working for me, they all make a message like this:

The requested URL /mp3/Lift To Experience - 04 With The World Behind (Peel session).mp3 was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

But I am glad people out there are talking about this group.

Very sad the links are no longer working. I assume that this is where they got those brilliant live versions of "Just as was Told" and "Falling From Cloud 9" that are on their myspace.

Utter brilliance.
