New Artist Alert: Friends Of The Bride

At the end of January, during one of the best nights out i've had in a bloooooming AGE, I was lucky enough to catch a set from the quite utterly ACE Friends Of The Bride. Mixing brit-beat 60s sparkly pop magic with just enough post-punk smarts to not make them sound dated (and to make them far too danceable for anyones health), they're ALSO far too stylish for their own good. And for my good (being so hopelessly style-LESS in comparison, naturally). Comparisons have been made to Dexys and to The Faces, but the best description I can come up with would be Sinatra fronting The Monks. Hows that for journalism, folks?

The band formed last year in Lundun, have released one limited (now sold out) single, and have another, 'Buckle Up, Sunshine' coming out on 7" on Young & Lost Club Records on March 19th. In the little time they've been together they've already garnered plaudits-a-plenty, and hopefully look set for bigger things in 07. With permission from the charming band, here's a song for you to download. For more songs, you can of course go and check out their myspace. Enjoy.
