The Mountain Goats - Heretic Pride
Just a quicky tonight; i'm busy wrapping presents and other such festivr things. Heretic Pride is The Mountain Goats' fourth album for 4AD and about their (or his, because if we're honest the project is best described as a way for John Darnielle to not be a solo artist, as such) 15th album total. I mention the 4AD connection because it does seem that since that connection was made, Darnielle seems to be making better records, and people seem to be listening to them more. Maybe i'm just an uncool type but it was indeed 2005's mucho acclaimed Sunset Tree set that really made me listen more intently where previously i'd not been that interested. Heretic Pride continues the run of good works, and is also probably a more fun record than the last few; more fantasy/narrative based than autobiographical, but not sacrificing the passion. Let's hope these mp3s stay up for more than a few hours. The record's out on the 19th February. Enjoy.

JD respectfully requested that no songs leak from his album before it is released... if you're a real fan, you'd respect that. Just sayin'. Colin is right.
"frankly so stoked about this album that I'm happy people are able to hear a li'l bit of it."

wait, so, are these the extra tracks that were included only on the first 100 pre-ordered Heretic Pride? or are these just ordinary tracks? if they are, I can wait til I buy the album.
to comment, the entire album leaked 2 weeks ago. i was sent the album by the label to promote it on my blog. so here are a few low quality samples. if the band or label want them removed i'll gladly do it.
To respond to Rachel, no, these are not the demos that came with the first 100 preorders. These are indeed full album tracks. The demos are "Toolshed" and "Last Man On Earth" (which John said were recorded later in the studio as well, but may never see the light of day unless maybe as b-sides)
"...here are a few low quality samples."
Just the way I'd want my music heard for the first time! It's like sending grainy, out of focus pictures of my newborn baby to the relatives!
What have you been feeding these people Jamie me old son? Where did all the love go suddenly?
