MP3: Sebadoh III Remastered & Expanded
The other day in the post I got the rather nice surprise of a copy of the classic Sebadoh album III. It's been remastered and repackaged with a bonus disc including the Gimme Indie Rock EP and tons of demos and other bits. If you're any sort of Sebadoh or lo-fi fan it's definitely a must buy, and we can only hope that the same treatment will happen to some of the other early Sebadoh albums.
The album itself is a deserved classic, up there with GBV's Bee Thousand in influence stakes, and one of the best indie rock releases from a very fine year. In fact it's kind of unfair that one band could have so many fine melodies throughout one album. The album also has some new liner notes from all three Sebadoh members that are pretty funny and enlightening at the same time. As for the extras, there are a few demos that beat their album versions, and of course the Gimme EP, especially the title track, is genius. For download i've got three songs from the record, plus the aforementioned EP title track, and last of all the last track on the bonus disc, which is an absolutely hilarious compilation of introductions to the band that was played a few times to audiences pre-show back in 1991. Very very funny. God I miss early 90s indie rock. Enjoy.
Richard Hawley should have won.
