Peel Live: And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead (2000)

Ooh i'm kind to you lot. After last night's Eels related fun, I decided to look through some more old times, and came up with this rather stunning live performance from AYWKUBTTOD (my space button is being a bitch so excuse the non-typing out the whole title!). It was recorded on the 16th August 2000, live at the Maida Vale Studios, London, in front of a small invited audience. The set features highlights from the bands first two records, and in my opinion, its when their live shows were really at their best. I saw them four or five times on the long Madonna tour/festival and most of them count amongst the list of the top live performance i've ever seen. Of course it always depended on the amount of drugs/alcohol ingested (Reading 2000 was particularly shambolic!), but then it wouldn't have been half as good if they hadn't been so wildly unpredictable. They're still a great live band now of course, so its just a shame that the last two records haven't been up to much and that, from recent live performances, it's sounded like they might be thinking of calling it quits (personally I think a hiatus would probably serve them better). Anyway I hope you like the session, cos it's pretty wonderful.

Trail, trail, trail...

I long for the glory days.

Maybe a hiatus would be good.

Conrad, come back all is forgiven...
