Peel Session: Half Man Half Biscuit (1999)

HELLO! Sorry for the quick break in transmission there folks, had a busy few days. Tonight i'm gonna give you the first in a number of Half Man Half Biscuit sessions that i've been listening to a lot recently. They're one of those classicly British bands that manage to mix humour with social reference and a bit of romance in a way that I can't help but love. They recorded 12 sessions for Peel, which I believe makes them the band to have recorded either the second or third largest amount (The Weddoes are the other band!), and their sessions were always a lot of fun.

This one was recorded in the runup to the release of the album Trouble Over Bridgwater (2000), more specifically on the 9th September 1999. Enjoy!

Half Man Half Biscuit - 01 The Uffington Wassail (Peel session)
Half Man Half Biscuit - 02 Guba Lookalikes (Peel session)
Half Man Half Biscuit - 03 Bottleneck At Capel Curig (Peel session)
Half Man Half Biscuit - 04 24 Hour Garage People (Peel session)

The Wedding Present did 12 as well (not counting Cinerama), which I suppose ranks them joint third behind The Fall and Ivor Cutler, although (according to the notes on the Wedding Present box set) Ashley Hutchings did 15 in various groups.
