Peel Session: Sunn O))) (2004)

Sunn O))) have been getting a fair bit of good press over here recently, not only for their reportedly fantastic performances at the Birmingham Supersonic festival and other headlining dates, but also most notably for their wonderfully incongrous appearance at the Royal Festival Hall as part of this years Jarvis Cocker curated Meltdown festival. As everyone knows, there really can't ever be enough 20 minute long smoke obscured drone epics played by cloak wearing mentalists in the world, and so for tonight's post I thought I'd post the band's one and only Peel session. Sadly it was one of those sessions that was recorded for the show but was never broadcast by Peel due to his death. It was later released as a limited edition vinyl EP in 2005 on the Anti-Mosh label. The band announced today that they will joining the aleady drone tastic (Earth, Om, Boris, and the arch-drude himself Julian Cope) lineup of this December's forthcoming All Tomorrow's Parties festival. Oh. My. Gar.

Thanks for this, listening to it now! Is Julian Cope also present at this recording?
