The Forms - The Forms

The forms are a Brooklyn based four piece indie rock band who bring an excellent sense of melancholic melody to this, their self-titled second album. The band formed in 2003 and a year later released their debut Icarus to generally great reviews but as yet quite low sales. Recorded at Electrical Audio with Steve Albini (he also worked on their debut) over a 50 day perod, they somehow manage to blend a quite organic, live sound (Albini is no doubt part of that) with a more dense, studied style of songwriting that to me recalls Autolux's Future Perfect. Other comparisons could be made with the ecstatic twists and turns of Shudder To Think, Polvo or even to a more calm Dirty Projectors (who they've toured with in the past). Overall it's well worth checking out, as hopefully the two songs below will demonstrate. More info on their official site.

This is a great record. Pretty, but still kinda intense.
