MP3: Smog - Peel Session 2001

My my my. Ryan Adams at Bush Hall last night was amazing. 300 capacity, no barrier, Ryan playing a song Lightning Bolt style at a piano in the middle of the hall. Tons of new songs, all brilliant, plus some amazing oldies. Mmmmm.

As i'm in a countryish mood (also been listening to lots of Parsons and Dead), I thought today i'd post you some songs from Smog (aka Billie Callahan). This Peel Session was recorded on the 10th December 2001 and broadcast on the 3rd January 2002. It was the third and final session that Smog would do for the show. Cold Devotion is from 2000's Dongs Of Sevotion. Dirty Pants is from 2001's Rain On Lens. Beautiful Child is a Stevie Nicks cover. Sadly I don't have the fourth song from this session, which was a cover of the Velvet's Jesus. My apologies.

Smog - 01 Cold Discovery (Peel session)
Smog - 02 Dirty Pants (Peel session)
Smog - 03 Beautiful Child (Peel session)

Hi - thanks for the great Smog tunes. The blog Largehearted Boy posted that VU cover a couple years back - perhaps as a blogger you'd have more cred than I to convince Largehearted to send you a copy of that MP3, and then you could pass the goodwill onto us grateful blog-readers???

Good news folks: I found a recent blog posting with a ton of Smog tunes including that elusive Jesus Peel Session track. The song itself is not very long though which I seem to vaguely remember when it first came out. Anyhow, thank this blogger for it here:
