MP3: Faun Fables - The Family Album

I am currently trying to sort out my finances so that i'll be able to afford a ticket for the first festival I will be going to for about 2 years. The festival in question is next April's All Tomorrow's Parties, which will be curated by The Dirty Three and is currently set to feature performances from Nick Cave, Low, Smog, and lots of other wonderful people.

One of the lesser known artists that are confirmed so far are Faun Fables. Hailing from Oakland, California, Faun Fables is the name given to the musical projects of Dawn McCarthy, who started writing under the name in 1997, and has so far released four albums. Her work combines original material with covers of songs from throughout the 20th century, particularly old folk and traditional songs. She has collaborated with Will Oldham and Dan Rathbun from Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, and most recently gained some pretty stunning reviews for the live shows that accompanied this year's The Transit Rider record, which came out in March on Drag City.

Personally I've recently become a massive fan and can't WAIT to see her/them live at ATP. The three songs below are from my favourite record, 2004's The Family Album.

Faun Fables - Eyes Of A Bird
Faun Fables - Carousel With Madonnas
Faun Fables - Joshua
